Greek Baby Names

The Old Greek language is the predecessor of modern Greek. It originated in the first millenium BC and was widely used until about 300 AD. Classical Greek influence was strong in the Mediterranean, resulting in frequent occurrences of Greek names among the Romans and in the New Testament of the Bible. The Catholic Church subsequently encouraged the use of biblical and saint names, many of which were Greek in origin.
