Top 20 Favorite Female Final Fantasy Characters

True fans of the Final Fantasy Series will see some baby names missing from this list, but only because they are listed in the combined, overall favorite character names from Final Fantasy Canon. These names are from the continuation of favorite female Final Fantasy character names from canon, as voted on by lovers of the series.

If there is anything to be said about a series as great as Final Fantasy has been, it is that at least the series is long enough to provide us with a wide selection of baby names to include in a listicle. Though it is inevitable that some of your favorite female Final Fantasy character names will also be included on additional lists even if you do not find them here.

Famous Female Final Fantasy Baby Names

Ashelia B’nargin Dalmasca – Ashelia is more commonly referred to in game as Ashe or Amalia. While she is not the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XII, much of the story does revolve around her and her ability to actively revenge her kingdom.

Beatrix – Beatrix can be played as a character for a portion of Final Fantasy IX but she is better known as a top general and Paladin Warrior of the Female Army of Alexandria. Beatrix is also among the unbeatable bosses, who the player must fight and lose in order to progress in the story line.

Celes Chere – Celes Chere is a playable character from Final Fantasy VI though torn between her loyalty for the Empire and sympathy for the rebels. Ultimately she sides with the rebels in the Final Fantasy series.

Edea Kramer – Edea Kramer is one of the main antagonists from Final Fantasy XIII and unser the spell of the Sorceress Ultimecia who did not make this list. The character is partially playable in the game, and is herself a mighty sorceress with magical power. (See also Eddea)

Faris Scherwiz – Her real name is Sarisa Scherwil Tycoon and she is a playable character from Final Fantasy V, and a Pirate Captain, often disguised as a man, and accompanied by a Sea-dragon named Syldra.

Fran Eruyt – Fran was originally introduced in Final Fantasy VII as the Pirate partner of Balthier and reintroduced as a Non-Player Character or NPC in Final Fantasy XIV. She is limited to the role of a supporting character in two quests, including the “Return to Ivalice” and “Save the Queen”.

Freya Crescent – Freya is a playable character from Final Fantasy IX and is a Burmecian, a race of anthropomorphic rats hailing from Burmecia and Cleyra. She is a very powerful Dragon Warrior and has been known to do what it takes, including siding temporarily with enemies to defeat a bigger foe.

Garnet Til Alexandros XVII – Garnet is a complex character, heir of Alexandria, and seeking not only to escape the troubles in her kingdom, but to find a way to ensure she can still resume her place as the rightful Queen in her time. She is a powerful summoner whose skills add an offensive advantage in battle.

Lunafreya Nox Fleuret – Lunafreya is more commonly known as Luna in the Final Fantasy XV series. She is one of the main characters and a heroine in that series, and the youngest oracle in history.

Lightning – Her real name is Claire Farron and she showed up first in Final Fantasy XIII as a playable character and the main hero of that series. Her most recent exploits saw her return as a hero and the only permanently playable character in Lightning Returns from the Final Fantasy XIII series.

Lulu – Lulu appears as a playable character in Final Fantasy X, and also as a Non-Player-Character or NPC in Final Fantasy X-2. She is one of the guardians of Yuna, and despite a seemingly gruff exterior, is also shown to be caring and concerned for those that she loves.

Oerba Yun Fang – Oerba Yun Fang is a playable character in Final Fantasy XIII and shows up again as a Non-Playable-Character or NPC in XIII-2. She is very precise and to the point, and not afraid to speak her mind or make a stand. Her full name is Fang of the Yun Clan from the Village of Oerba.

Paine – Paine is one of the playable characters of Final Fantasy X-2 though she remains somewhat mysterious and reserved throughout the series. One of the jobs of the player is to discover her mysterious past and what happened to her during the days of Final Fantasy X.

Quistis Trepe – Quistis Trepe is a playable character from Final Fantasy VIII and a child prodigy and Blue Mage, as well as being Instructor No. 14 at Balamb Garden. Her favorite weapon is a whip which she uses in both her work as a mercenary and as an instructor.

Rydia of Mist – Rydia of Mist is a playable character in both Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV The After Years. She is a major character involved in the game play and functions as a Summoner. (See also Rodia)

Selphie Tilmitt – Selphie Tilmitt is more deep than her outward appearance and exuberance may indicate. She is a playable character from Final Fantasy VIII and enjoys socializing and being active. She is a pilot on the Ragnarok airship and also battles with her signature Nunchaku.

Serah Farron – Serah is the younger sister of Lightning (or Claire Farron) and has experienced numerous tragedies in the course of her young life. She is featured in Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, and Lighting Returns which sees her sister trying to become the Savior in order to save the soul of young Serah. (See also Sera)

Terra Branford – (Terra is also known as Tina in the Japanese version of Final Fantasy VI) She is the primary hero of Final Fantasy VI and while there is no main character for the player, she is the first character that the player can control and considered to be the representative and most important character of the game.

Vanille of the Dia Clan from the Village of Oerba – Vanille is a playable character, a narrator, and one of the heroes of Final Fantasy XIII. While her appearance is youthful and she seems to happy and kind, she also harbors many dark secrets. (See also Vani)

Y’shtola Rhul – Y’shtola Rhul also goes by the name of Master Matoya or Lady Matoya, though some may know her as Sorceress Matoya. She is a Seeker of the Sun Conjurer and part of the Limsa Lominsa story in Final Fantasy XIV.
