David Bowie was a well-known artist of the 20th century and regarded by many as an icon during the glam rock era of the 70s. Some of his famous classic hits were ‘Starman’ (1972), ‘Fame’ (1975), and ‘Under Pressure’ (1981), which was a collaboration with Queen. Bowie gained recognition after his staggering sales of over 100 million albums globally.

He came up with the stage name David Bowie to avoid confusion with his given name, Davie Jones. The latter was associated with his former band, Davie Jones from The King-Bees, where he was the lead singer at 17 years old.

He voiced the character named Lord Royal Highness in the cartoon show ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ in 2007. Bowie also appeared in the movie ‘The Prestige’ (2006) together with Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johansson.
