Keanu Reeves is enormously popular for playing the main protagonist and character of a cybercriminal and computer programmer named Neo or The One in the ‘Matrix’ Trilogy. He also starred opposite Sandra Bullock and Dennis Hopper as a young cop on a mission to stop a bomb explosion inside a city bus in the movie ‘Speed’ (1994).
Reeves was named after his uncle Henry Keanu Reeves. The name Keanu was derived from Reeve’s great-great-uncle Keaweaheulu, which is Hawaiian for ‘the soft breeze raising.’
Reeves is of Chinese-Hawaiian and Portuguese descent, has English and American parents, and was born in Beirut, Lebanon. He has always dreamt of becoming an ice hockey player as a youngster.
