Lea Salonga came to prominence with her Tony Award-winning portrayal of Kim in the Broadway musical production of ‘Miss Saigon’ (1991-1993, 1999-2001). She was also awarded the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical with the same role in its West End production (1989-1990). Her other stage credits include portraying Eponine and Fantine in ‘Les Misérables’ (1993,1996, 2007), Eliza Doolittle in ‘My Fair Lady’ (1994), Grizabella in ‘Cats’ (2010), Grace Farrell in ‘Annie’ (2018), and Mrs. Lovett in ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ (2019).

She also voiced two famous princesses, Jasmine and Fa Mulan, from two of the greatest Disney movies of all time, ‘Aladdin’ (1992) and ‘Mulan’ (1998). In the Philippines, she’s one of the well-known coaches on ’The Voice of the Philippines’ (2013-2015), ‘The Voice Kids’ (2014-2019), and ’The Voice Teens’ (2017, 2020-).

She is well regarded for being outspoken when it comes to promoting women empowerment. She once shared, ‘I want every Filipino woman empowered with information regarding all options available to her regarding family planning. I want every Filipino to be armed with the right education regarding their bodies in the context of sex and reproduction; to exercise their free will in ensuring the quality of life based on their own personal, religious, and moral convictions and beliefs; and to have a fighting chance at a better life.’
