Rodger Bumpass is a naturally gifted voice actor who began his career before the 1960s. He gained wider acclaim in voice and film acting in the ’60s and ventured into stage acting in mid-70s. To date, he has almost 700 film credits under his name.

He became most recognized to an entirely new generation when he landed the role of Squidward Tentacles, the grumpy neighbor and co-worker of the titular character on the ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ (May 1, 1999-) television and film series. The California native described the animated character as ‘a very nasally, monotone kind of guy.’ Furthermore, he was noted to posses ‘an impressive voice range and has voiced characters with voices both high and nasally, and cavernously deep.’

Before becoming one of the most sought-after voice actors, Bumpass used to work at a campus radio station and a television station where he wore many hats. He served as a technical director, announcer, audio technician, cameraman, and film processor.
