Portuguese names for baby boys, with 304 entries. Brazil is the only Portuguese-speaking country in the Americas, surrounded by Latin American countries which have Spanish as their lingua franca. As a Catholic country, Brazilian boys’ names have long been influenced by the names of biblical characters and Catholic saints, such as Matheus, Pedro and Gabriel.

Portuguese names are popular baby names for boys. The names rose in popularity from the 1900s up to the 1950s; prior to that, they were of only moderate use.
