-ter names are fairly popular baby names for boys, and they are also considered rather trendy. At the height of their usage in 1901, 2.222% of baby boys were given -ter names. There were 14 -ter names ranked within the top 1000 baby names then. -ter names have since experienced a steep decline in frequency. In 2018, 6 -ter names listed among the top 1000, with a combined usage of 1.050%, having regained their popularity somewhat in the recent decade. Within all -ter names, the English Carter was the most commonly used, with a ranking of #24 and a usage of 0.4828%.
