Girl Names of French language or origin

French names for baby girls, with 3300 entries. French names are classic favorites. Today they are still very popular as baby girl names, but not as much as they were in the past. Their usage peaked in 1901 with 18.156% of baby girls being given French names. Within the top 1000 baby names then, there were 78 French names. The names have slipped in popularity since then, but nevertheless are currently of very heavy use. In 2018, their total usage was 7.839% with 76 French names listed among the top 1000. Among all French names, Emma (English, Armenian, Catalan, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Scandinavian, and Spanish) was the most widely used, with a ranking of #1 and a usage of 1.0123%.
