German names for baby girls, with 1663 entries. German names are classic favorites. Today they are still very popular as baby girl names, but not as much as they were in the past. Their usage peaked in 1967 with 31.385% of baby girls being given German names. Within the top 1000 baby names then, there were 199 German names. The names have slipped in popularity since then, but they are nevertheless of very heavy use in recent times. In 2018, their total usage was 18.495% with 172 German names listed among the top 1000. Among all German names, Emma (English, Armenian, Catalan, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Scandinavian, and Spanish) was the most widely used, with a ranking of #1 and a usage of 1.0123%.
