Girl Names of Latin language or origin

Latin names for baby girls, with 8158 entries. Latin, an ancient language that originated in a region around Rome called Latium, inspired Spanish, French, Italian and other languages.

Latin names are classic favorites. Today they are still very popular as baby girl names, but not as much as they were in the past, and they are also regarded as trendy. Their usage peaked in 1938 with 12.340% of baby girls being given Latin names. Within the top 1000 baby names then, there were 73 Latin names. The names have slipped in popularity since then. In 2018, their total usage was 7.993% with 63 Latin names listed among the top 1000, appearing with somewhat increasing regularity in the recent decade. Among all Latin names, Emma (English, Armenian, Catalan, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Scandinavian, and Spanish) was the most widely used, with a ranking of #1 and a usage of 1.0123%.
